as inspired by the 2009 champ and these games.

Game 5840587
Game 5840547

Game 5827102
Game 5827062

4 of many i would guess. but something needs to be done to prevent this unethical play.

no game produces a drawn position before at least 20 moves and we need to implement a move limit before someone can offer a draw in a game.

The two top players in Group 59 agreed to draws on the same day after 14 and 15 moves.

I still think the way to solve this problem is to establish some type of tiebreaker rather than having players who tie for first in a section all advance.

Unethical Trev? So offering a draw on move 17 because you're confident of winning the other game/games in the set is unethical? Is this the kind of thing you mean? Game 5655975

If I'd known you were tempting me down the road to hell I never would have accepted.

I am responsible for my own games and am quite at liberty to offer or accept draws as I see fit.

Wow, I didn't know this kind of disgusting behaviour was going on in the seedy alleys of RHP tournaments.

Well done guys, you've managed to shock a forum mod. Probably some of the hardest to shock people in the world.

Perhaps we should have a ban on starting threads the sole purpose of which is to single out other users and bully them. You have private fora for this sort of thing. I don't think Site Ideas is the appropriate place.

You don't think Site Ideas is the proper forum to propose a site idea i.e. a ban on draw offers before the 20th move?

get your facts straight. i had a better position in that game than i did in our other game at the time i offered the draw because i didn't know what to do in the position other that to trade off and end up getting a draw anyway, thus saving myself time to concentrate on the other game. plus my position still isn't that great in the other game, no more than a slight edge in anyones favor.

do you think it's ok to offer a double draw after 4 moves in a tournament in the hope of getting both players to advance?

Agreeing to draws with a 3 points for a win, 1 for a tie scoring system is a big risk. That's enough of a deterrent.

One key line in the Pirc Defense, Austrian attack variation runs:
1.e4 d6 2.d4 Nf6 3.Nc3 g6 4.f4 Bg7 5.Nf3 c5 6.Bb5+ Bd7 7.e5 Ng4 8.e6 fxe6! with the idea that Black survives after 9.Ng5 Bxb5 10.Nxe6 Bxd4! 11.Nxd8 Bf2+ 12.Kd2 Be3+ drawing by repetition.

Black can play 8...fe6 only if he's betting on White not wanting to draw. If Black wishes to avoid the draw, he must settle for the inferior 8...Bxb5 [at least, considered inferior at the time of Chernin's Book The Pirc Defense.

obivously forced draws would still come into affect regardless of the number of moves played.

Barking at the sky howling at the moon. There seems to be some serious OCD regarding early draws. Like there is no evidence of early draws ever with GM play and or here? Continue with your aerobic hot breath it is cold here! Why is it that high rated players haven't posted because ya'll are off the track and the train has wrecked 🙁

Insane as the idea is, I think this would be the place. This thread however looks more to me like insulting other members and needlessly trying to influence the outcome of other peoples' games, something which quite frankly is no business but that of the players concerned.
