But this is not a big issue for me. I just state my opinion. I don't want to fight for it. I have mine, you have yours.
There should be a vote. I think the 13 recs so far show that there is support as to someway reinstating the rec count and taking away such major restrictions. All are entitlted to an opinion, and it can be shown in your vote.

A question I've asked but not get answered yet is the following:

A quote from the first posting of this thread:
"Now that the forum tyrant has departed, it time to take them back."

If we introduce the old version with unlimited number of rec's (Have I got it right?) and a new tyrant of some sort are introduced at the forums - what do we do then?

Do we (1) limit the recs again? or (2) live with the consequences of a wrecked rec system?
Is a new tyrant bannable, and if so of what grounds?

I want you to remember the last time we encountered a tyrant and the effects of it. I think the overheated discussions are still there somewhere in the forums of those days.

But, again, I'm not complaining if we let the rec limits go. Even I will use rec's to anonymously encourage some peoples wild opinions. Perhaps I will be the new tyrant? 😉 You'll never know.

I agree, let's have a vote about it.

    Majority rules, eh?

The post that was quoted here has been removed
I proposed something like this a few times now - a 'ranking' that takes into consideration all aspects of the site:
    - number of posts (across a variety of the active forums)
    - number of recs
    - chess rating
    - number of moves
    - tournaments participation
    - sieges participation
    - clans (and clan leader?)
    - clubs participation

So, the top 'community ranks' would go to the users who actively participate in all elements of the site and it includes the amount of recs received.

I've never really led a charge here for a vote. How do I get Russ to see that we are asking for a vote or discuss what exactly we would vote on?

Russ is God at this site. Everything Russ does is right, until he change his mind, then the new thing is right. I am here of this belief!
Just out of curiosity, do your lips ever get tired of all that arse kissing they do? 😛

What? You mean me saying that Russ is God?

    Why? He is, isn't he?

He is the creator of RHP and everything you see within. Our very existance in RHP is the opus of his. If He weren't there, we would be nothing, absolute nothing. Fear that one day He make RHP sieze to exist, where will you be then? Nowhere! RHP is the universe where we belong, and Russ is the creator, and Chris is his right hand. He makes us feel good by giving us new features when he wants us to have them. When one of us is not behaving correctly, due to TOS, He just bann us. It must be terrible to find out that you don't belong at RHP anymore, worse than hell. Those who are banned are not seen anymore, they don't exist anymore. So of course Russ is God!

If you deny this, then... I don't dare think about it.

So, again, what do you mean by arse kissing...?

I suppose in an ideal world, trolls wouldn't set the direction that a site takes.
