Thematic tournaments

I think it would be useful in thematic tournaments to have a pgn of the starting position and a brief written summary of state of play. I think this would become an excellent tool for those learning how to play the game and increase interest in these tournaments.

as stated in a thread in Tournaments forum, it would be nice if pgns from Thematic games had a valid pgn.

A workaround for this is to add a a FEN tag in the PGN header information.

For example, if you are playing in the Evan's Gambit accepted tourney, you would add this line to your PGN headers:

[FEN "r1bqk1nr/pppp1ppp/2n5/4p3/1bB1P3/5N2/P1PP1PPP/RNBQK2R w KQkq - 0 5"]

or if you are playing in the Winawer Poisoned Pawn tourney you, would add this:

[FEN "rnb1k2r/ppq1nppp/4p3/2ppP3/3P2Q1/P1P5/2P2PPP/R1B1KBNR w KQkq - 0 8"]
