As a typographer (and yes, I am one, in a way) I am fundamentally against this addition. Underlines are horrendous - illegible, ugly, counter to any good style, and awkward to handle properly.

As a web programmer (which is my day job) I have to approve. Through clenched teeth, but I do have to.

If you google unicodes there's a list of every conceivable code on there
for example if you type ctrl,shift and 00b2 it will display the symbol for squared
