Do you have a quote that I said "on authority ALONE"?

Disingenuous.
I demand an apology.
And I never said you did. What you actually said was:
... you'd seriously consider their disclosure...

You never mentioned whether or not the person in question would provide anything other than authority.
Now is your chance to clarify. What is this person going to provide with the disclosure? It better be good because the person is claiming to have Nobel Prize winning material that the wish to share with me before writing a science paper on it. I am starting to get suspicious already.

How many times must I tell you? Read the thread for the full context. But even within the quote itself, you are leaving out half the quote. At least have the honesty to admit that the dictionary definition I quoted does not, as you falsely claim, state that the word fact means only that one thing. It gives two different definitions. Now either you must be ...[text shortened]... plan to stone me for blasphemy? Its a simple yes no question. Why are you avoiding the question?
So you are basically saying saying that a fact is TRUE in one context and NOT TRUE in another context?

Even if you do claim that I don't see any source that backs up your claim that a fact is NOT TRUE to start off with.

Sir, with respect, you lost this argument to twhitehead 4 pages ago.

Why not create a new thread about 'concrete certainties' or 'Factual discombobulations?'

Yes dear Ghost we all know that we can trust your impartial, unbiased judgement in this matter.

(Assuming TWhitehead is right and facts are not true.) You agree with T-dog that a fact isn't true and you are stating it as a fact (that isnt true) that he won the argument? The two of you make a great team.

Why do you make so much of the Nobel Prize ?

Some people who probably deserved a Nobel Prize missed it because they were too humble or too honest and maybe not ruthless enough to insist they were the FIRST.
I don't make an idol out of the Nobel Prize.

I lived near MIT where fiercely competitive students vied with one another for knowledge prizes. One time someone complained of pages of a library text that had been stolen and cut out of a book. The reason ? Competition most likely was the reason for the stolen rare information.

I would want the revealer of some important fact hard to know to also be an honest and ethical person. I would consider whether the person is trustworthy ethically.

Were you that atheist on these boards whose family members were Christians and had higher degrees ? I'm really curious to know SINCE you implied I was concocting some underhanded fiction. [my expression of your accusation]

Are you that Atheist ? C'mon - An atheist with close family members who are higher degreed and are Christians ?

It is very evident that your facts aren't true, so maybe T-dog has a point 😛

Can you please elaborate (preferably in Japanese).

I am saying that the word 'fact' means different things in different contexts - as clearly stated in the dictionary definition you so consistently fail to quote in full.

Even if you do claim that I don't see any source that backs up your claim that a fact is NOT TRUE to start off with.
Both sources I quoted gave definitions for the word 'fact' for which it is NOT TRUE EVER.

None of the sources you quoted specifically said that facts are not true. They did however say that facts are true. You may think they were saying what you want them to say but they weren't. You can end this now by quoting one of your sources in full that says a fact is not true. I have quoted your sources a number of times where they do say that a fact is true.

LOL !!! I guess I should be flattered that you are concerned. LOL !!!!

What's this question you are hammering Fetch with from Leviticus you think is some death knell?

And don't forget to tell me if you are that Atheist with close family members who have higher degrees and are also Christians.

I said I wonder if you have a life long chip on your shoulder about that. You retorted. Now am I at least right about your family?

If some poster had not volunteered that little biographical trivia I would not have remembered it.

If you could either:
1. share a secret with me.
2. write it in a science journal, wait a month then get a million dollars then share the secret with me
Which would you do?

I don't make an idol out of the Nobel Prize.
Neither do I. I do however think that anyone with ground breaking scientific information would most likely publish it in a scientific magazine before sharing it with me.

I have two sisters who are Christian and have similar degrees to mine. I do not wish to share much more personal family details, but no, I am not that atheist.
