my pastors wife works in the nursery at a hospital and even says taht you can tell by their cries that they are selfish.

The facts are a baby is selfish because it has no other choice but to be selfish. It is helpless and can't do much for itself. The evil crying thing does almost make your point, but Hell seems a little harsh for the little pink demons.
The ego makes one selfish. That is why the ego must be stampped out through strick Buddhest discipline. Only then will True Enlightenment be had. The Kingdom of Heaven is within you. Some Yogic prctices can bring about ego reduction. You should consider trying to look beyond the Christian idea only.
