Some christians think it's a sin. You get punished from god because you have sinned in one way or another, maybe because you have had sex with another man.
Some christians don't agree with the ones described above.

Originally posted by FabianFnasnope, i have a friend , a close friend, who has contracted aids through no fault of his own, he thinks that it may have been the result of an operation that he had whilst in Pakistan, it was certainly not the result of a sexually immoral act. one may for example go to the barbours and if he has not used a clean razor, and the previous customer was HIV positive and he cuts us as well, then it is hardly the result of ones own actions is it?

There are a lot of christians that says that AIDS is a punishment from god, no matter what the person did or not did. AIDS is a proof that the person in question has sinned, they think. That kind of christian belief I cannot respect.
Originally posted by FabianFnasthank you, i see we may become friends even yet! have a beer , anyhow Fabians, there was a really tragic case in my own country when I think either hundreds or thousands of haemophiliacs were given contaminated blood from the NHS, many of which died as a direct consequence. i think it was not so much contaminated by the HIV virus, but by hepatitis, thus it illustrates the case well, or it was not the result of their own actions.

The same could be said of Lepers or plenty of other people who have suffered from a horrible disease. Society has a habit of shunning those who are already suffering for fear that we may catch it; and then trying to justify our fear and hostility with sweeping moral judgments based on imagined reasons rather than fact or real ethics.
