@fmf saidSorry I missed this thread at the outset. I read a few posts on the first page and there may be a few comments I'd like to make.
What sorts of conditions or assurances would be necessary or sufficient to make it worthwhile to consume an elixir of immortality?
First of all, would consuming the elixir be a onetime dose, or would there be a regimen?
And if you changed your mind and wanted to die, and cut your head off, would your head and body still live on?
I could see myself walking around carrying my head under my arm.
@fmf saidThat is patently absurd.
Christians, for example, have no specific ideas about what their anticipated everlasting life is going to be like,.
There are loads of things we as Christians, that read the Bible, know about what "everlasting life is going to be like".
Specific things.
@pb1022 saidChristians are not looking forward to death. Death has no hold on born again Christians.
Not saying Christians should look forward to death,.
For the believer death is merely the putting off of the flesh, and the portal to eternal life.
@fmf saidSome are busy improving while others are busy wrecking theirs and the lives of others.
Maintaining or improving the conditions of society would be something that could keep one busy.
Judgement day is coming for all according to the scriptures.
@fmf saidReminds of the verse in Romans 2:4
Well, the world has been steadily becoming a better place for a bigger proportion of humanity for over 50 years. I imagine this would continue.
Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
Don't be mislead by the "steadily becoming a better place" except to view it as an opportunity to acknowledge the goodness of God.
The Day of Christ is coming. Sooner than you think.
@josephw saidThe Christian teaching on judgment day is a joke. Oh ... we dont have to account for sin. All our sins are forgiven.

And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?(Romans 2:3 KJV)
@fmf saidDeclining birth rates are a problem for many nations. The future effect on economies will be a disaster. The truth of that is attested to by experts.
Indonesia's birth rate has gone from 44.5 per 1,000 population in 1960 to 17.3 in 2020. People still cling to the apocalyptic predictions of the 60s and 70s as if, subsequently, no governments in the developing world acted upon them.
Look it up.
@rajk999 saidYou're not making any sense again Rajk.

What do Christians have to fear?
Christians won't stand at the great white throne of God and give an account for sin.
That your Bible doesn't inform you of that speaks volumes about your understanding of scripture.
@rajk999 saidIgnorance is what's stopping you.
Well what is stopping you from saying what they are ... ignorance ?
I know what the Bible says.
Why do you even read the Bible? After all it was written by Christians, and we all know how much you hate Christians.
@josephw saidI make perfect sense, Righteous Christians have nothing to fear, they get eternal life. Unrighteousness ones will not inherit the Kingdom of God and Paul said that several times and Christians who defile themselves will be destroyed. But I know how you people like to twist the bible in your favour.
You're not making any sense again Rajk.

In fact Peter said that the unrighteous Christian will be worse off than the unbeliever [who does not know the way of righteousness.]
For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. (2 Peter 2:20-21 KJV)
@josephw saidI dont hate Christians just like Jesus did not hate them. I feel the same way about all religions. Just like Jesus Christ, I hate sin and evil and promote good works and righteousness. You promote sin and evil and discourage good works and righteousness.
Ignorance is what's stopping you.

@rajk999 saidOnly a corn flake would say that.
You promote sin and evil and discourage good works and righteousness.
It's no wonder the blacks where you live hate East Indians, assuming they all talk like you do.
Now go commit an egregious sin and do a dastardly deed. 🙄
@josephw saidSo you think the black people you are referring to are justified in hating Rajk999 because of his race, if that is what they do? Or do you condemn hatred and racism?
