I like some aspects of what Jesus said, especially his pacifism and message of selflessness. I do not know ...[text shortened]... hat entails. I do not think that it makes sense to interpret that as saving us from anything.

You said that you did not believe that Jesus wanted people to be "saved" at all.
Yes, you could learn someting from Jesus without believing in all that Jesus taught. However to use your own analogy, you would be highly suspect if you said:
"I don't beleive that Mandela opposed the apartied system at all."
or
"I think that Ghandi didn't want the Indians to resist British imperialism at all."
or
" I think Obama did not want to change the policies of the previous Bush administration at all."
It is one thing to learn some things from someone. It is another to try to spin their teachings to say the exact opposite of what they taught.
Jesus is not and was not a humanist or an athiest. You can give up trying to spin the teachings of Jesus to support your humanist / athiest world view.

You said that Jesus didn't want people to be "saved" at all. Deflection will not save your case. It is patently absurd to say that Jesus did not want people to be saved at all.

I do not know what the real Jesus was like,
======================================
If that is the case then you cannot so confidently assert that "Jesus didn't want people to be saved at all."

i believe that you are a repressed theist, you just have not yet discovered your spirituality,
happy are those that are conscious of their spiritual need! Matthew 5:5

Jesus is not and was not a humanist or an athiest.
I don't remember calling him either.
You can give up trying to spin the teachings of Jesus to support your humanist / athiest world view.
I wasn't trying to. You are reading far more into it than is really there.

I have gone back and checked my post. There was a typo and I said:
" I is not trying to 'save' us at all. "
I meant to say:
"That is not trying to 'save' us at all."
If you can calm down a bit an re-read what I have said you will realize that you are missing my point altogether.
If I said that when Mandela started his AIDS campaign he was not trying to overthrow apartheid at all, would you deny that too and wrongly interpret it as meaning that he never fought against apartheid?
If that is the case then you cannot so confidently assert that "Jesus didn't want people to be saved at all."
I never did assert that, you misread me.

But now I understand you to mean that Jesus did not want all to be saved.
Is that your corrected / revized / clarified position ?
