The New Jerusalem is the enlarged church. She contains now the Old Testament and the New Testament saints. She is the church enlarged to include the saints of the Old Testament time.


This is proved by the fact that on the twelve foundations are the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. And on the twelve gates are the names of the twelve tribes of Israel.

The building of New Jerusalem is occurring throughout the church age. When we are built together in the Holy Spirit and in divine love we are building the New Jerusalem. See Ephesians 2:21,22.

All building of the new covenant church is also building of the New Jerusalem.

As for heaven and earth John said that he saw "a new heaven and a new earth" . The physical universe remains in eternity with the New Jerusalem as its capital. But it will be a new heaven and a new earth within which righteousness dwells.

Please question anything I have said here which you need more proof of. This is the short answer.

Where is the saved man or woman "going" ?

They are going into God and God is going into them for a blending, a union, a mingling, and an incorporation of divinity in humanity.

To "mingle" one or two things together means to combine them in such a way that the components remain distinguishable in the combination.

The destiny of the saved believers is to be brought into this mingling of God and man. Here in the ultimate New Jerusalem God and man are united yet each remains distinguishable in the combination. God is mingled with man.

When a person is born again this mingling commences. For "He who is joined to the Lord is one spirit" (1 Cor. 6:17)

The human spirit of man and the divine and eternal Holy Spirit Who is God Himself, are joined together in regeneration. And the two spirits become "one spirit". Yet in the joining the Holy Spirit is still distinguishable and the human spirit is still distinguishable.

The new birth is therefore the beginning of God being mingled with man. And the New Jerusalem, depicted in Revelation 21 and 22, is the ultimate consummation of this mingling of God and man.

Man becomes God in life and in nature, only not in the Godhead. God becomes man and man becomes God as God's expansion and God's increase. The unique Head of this organic union, however, is the Triune God. Man never becomes an object of worship. But man becomes deified.

Satan has attacked this great truth by substituting a superstitious distraction of "going to Heaven" forever as a supposed plan of God. For a proper view of the Bible's revelation we all need to come back to seeing the mingling of God and man.
