To all of my enlightened liberal friends: Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2014, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere. Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wish.

To all of my conservative friends: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

To KellyJay: I'm a liberal who also happens to be a Christian. Trust me, 'Merry Christmas' is fine, even preferred. Maybe the key here is that I only state that my political leanings are liberal, I do not claim to be a 'progressive', whatever that means. If being a 'progressive' means you have to be an atheist, then fine, because I don't claim to be either.

I meant no disrespect, I didn't write it, but thought it funny. 🙂

Progressives are socialist with the idea of progessively moving toward a socialist form of government that can force all business, political and societial members to conform to rules and views that they believe is best for all. They believe in a progressive economic system that is graduated so that the tax rate increases relative to the amount of income so the government can redistribute the wealth as it deems best. They believe in an educational system that allows flexibility in learning procedures, based on activities determined by the needs and capacities of the individual child, the aim of which is to integrate academic with social development. They believe in a progressive overtake of the healthcare system that will be controlled by the government.

These type of things seem good to the Progressives, however, Conservatives see it as an assault on individual liberties.

Of course you conveniently forget about the 50 MILLION people with no health coverage at all.

Your view: LET THEM EAT CAKE as she famously said before being beheaded.

Your empathy for your fellow man just oozes out of your very skin.
