The horrible things done in the name of religions which have absolutely no substantiated beliefs begs a question.
Is there a part of our psyche which wishes to do these things and religious belief is just a vehicle for this behavior ?
We say no but our actions say most likely yes.

Why do you think Jesus came to save us? It wasn't because we were/are good, we were dead in our sins when He did.
