I hope it is also a place where each individual refines and purifies his own faith. Unfortunatley I haven't gotten as much out of the christian posters as I would've liked,then again christianity has been shown again and again to be a great many different things to a great many different christians. Oh well.
As for the venom it does seem to be part of life but is really unessasary for the most part.

Unfortunately, rudeness is just the tip of the iceberg. When one believes what ultimately they have chosen to believe beyond any shadow of doubt, you will not find discussion. You will, however, find all the elements that do not allow for rational discussion.
I disagree. I am a devote atheist; I cannot conceive of any argument changing my mind. I am however still very interested in religion and the beliefs of others. I find it quite fascinating! And I can still discuss others beliefs as well as my own.
