Is it plausible that Jesus actually existed as a man, possibly a heretic claiming to be a prophet, was sentenced to death by crucifixion, but was either rescued or escaped. Jesus, may, af ...[text shortened]... ack from the dead' being more a figure of speach rather than the absolute truth.
Any takers?
I simplisticly disagree. I offer no other validation. The notion is highly assumptive, as is my own position. No more, no less. đ

Jesus did die on a cross and did rise from the dead. Also the apostles were tortured and killed for the things they claimed to witness.Would anyone let alone many die for a known lie ?

No less assumptive, but much more plausible than the notion that he rose from the dead. Let's consult statistics.
How many people have gone into hiding because someone was after them ?
loads.
How many people have been killed, and then risen from the dead some days later ?
none, or assuming it was the case in this instance, one
I'd say the chances of jesus hiding out for a few days far outweigh the alternative proposed.
