The passage in Gen 18 is not specific as to the nature of Sodom's wrongs. Instead, we have vague language, such as, "the outcry against [them] is great".
Why is it that many theists are so comfortable with filling in the blanks, in this fashion? Where is the reverence in that? You're basically adding your own biases to God's word, while still passing it off as 100% his.

@bigdoggproblem saidThe crime of the men of Sodom pertaining to Lot and the visiting angels was [according to bible interpreters], homosexual rape. This was apparently a common activity in Sodom.

And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them. (Genesis 19:5 KJV)
To know someone in biblical jargon means sexual intercourse. The entire society was corrupt. People move to areas where they are comfortable. The religious decent and God fearing people will move to a city where they are comfortable. There are cities all over the world and throughout history that were famous for homoxuality. It is my opinion and the opinion of many writers that Sodom was one of them
@rajk999 saidDo you think consensual homosexuality is different from homosexual rape, in a moral sense?

@bigdoggproblem saidThey are both sins according to the bible. However my personal moral values will tell me to have nothing to do with the rapist and converse normally with the homosexual couple. In terms of Sodom and Gomorrah that makes no difference.

@rajk999 saidI find it interesting that Suzianne cannot articulate her Christian belief regarding homosexual sex [and whether it is "sinful"] in a succinct way like you have here ~ or perhaps it would even be the same belief as yours ~ but, instead, she invariably chooses to play the man and not the ball whenever homosexuality and abortion come up as topics.

-Removed-Are you sure? I remember she mentioned she was living with a gay guy [even I have done that]. But anyway, neither that nor choosing to engage in homosexual sex affects whether the latter is a "sin" according to Christian doctrine, unless a Christian 'case' can be made. And that's all I have ever asked for, seeing as I have been crystal clear for years and years that I don't think there is anything morally unsound about homosexuality, in and of itself.
@fmf saidMaybe she is influenced by contemporary opinions, rather than what is clearly stated in the bible I think sonship is in the same quandary with Witness Lee and would vehemently defend the man rather than side with the bible.

@rajk999 saidYour stance has always been clear and coherent. Meanwhile, I have merely asked Suzianne to be clear about how she reasons that it is not "sinful". She almost always frames my question as a "personal attack" and yet I have been totally clear that I don't think there is anything morally unsound about homosexuality, in and of itself.
