@ogb saidNot if you believe that to be human is to strive be essentially moral in the present moment, regardless of hopes of an afterlife.
freedom to grab all the cash you can. forget about being legal or not, moral or not..just get all you can for yourself !!!
@ogb saidIf you are speaking for yourself, so be it. "Stupid rules" are in the eye of the beholder. Most of these "rules" have evolved over time and are a necessary product of - and basis for - communal living. I don't think the fact that such "rules" overlap a lot with various religious codes ~ many of which promise an afterlife in return for compliance ~ is surprising.
right-o ! the purpose is to get all you can for yourself. to heck with all those old guys from eons ago who had a bunch of stupid rules.
@ogb saidThis road is only worth taking if you have no conscience. For most people I think, it leads to torment, a good deal of self-loathing and relentless insomnia. Also, money and stuff aren't really as green as they seem from the other side of the bridge.
the only reason people are civil is because of laws and fear of an afterlife. if there is no accounting for your actions you are free to steal all you can !!
"Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones."— Marcus Aurelius
@ogb saidYou’ve lost me, do you live in a theocracy where only religious laws apply? The consequences of breaking the law are imprisonment or a fine and in some jurisdictions death.

As for morality, those of us who do not accept the idea of a punishment / reward based construct of the afterlife or even the very existence of one, morality is about personal responsibility regarding the effect our actions have on our fellow creatures and nothing to do with an afterlife.
