Just some quick observations from the sidelines - and, yes, I have just plowed through this entire thread.
Firstly, anybody who challenges somebody to prove that they are "a real Christian" has already drawn the boundaries to include themselves and exclude all who do not believe the same. It is a subjective question if ever I saw one.
Secondly, RC's contribution is disingenuous to say the least. He defines a "Real Christian" very broadly, as somebody who only conforms to two criteria, i.e. Loving other Christians, and obeying Chrits's commands as pertaining to good works. I would submit that EVERY group of Christians, be they ever so diverse, would claim to be doing that. In the group that I associate with, we certainly do.
Yet when challenged as to whether he believes that there are "True Christians" outside of the JW fold, he says that that would be as unlikely as time travel! So actually, JWs are the only True Christians (something which we all knew, anyway! ) but when challenged on that fact, he just squirms and evades it.
If he (RC) where to come straight out and say: "We are the only TC's", that would at least be honest.
Thirdly (on the eternal eternal hellfire issue, and yes, no misprint) I say that there is no point in continuing to quote Bible verses. We all know that they are there. The point is that one has to take the entire Bible, and its coherent, holistic, message into consideration, and when one does that, there are certain blatant inconsistencies - hellfire being only one. If you consider the fact that the NT (as well as the OT, for that matter) was written by people long after the reported events, then human interpretation and additions cannot be ruled out.
The creation and Noah's flood stories are cases in point. A high school student could point out the flaws in YECism, from basic Biology, Geology, Physics and Chemistry, but that does not stop Fundamentalists from quoting Bible verses.
I may have had my differences with Dive, but on the hellfire issue at least we agree. (As far as the Trinity is concerned, my position is that anybody who claims to understand the I Am, the source of all Being, is deluded.)
So now it is your opprtunity to say that I am also not a True Christian!
