-Removed-Oh, I don't mind a little disagreement.
Look, forgiveness springs forth when you come to Jesus.
Confession of our faults to Jesus does make one aware of His pardon flowing down on your conscience like a fountain.
You have to blame the Holy Spirit for that. We are just believers taking part in
the enjoyment of God's gracious willingness to forgive.
God is no way near as interested in people's sins as He is that they believe in His Son. Sin can be taken care of in spades. He wants us to believe in all of Christ's finished work on Calvary. And He wants us to live in the realm of Jesus indwelling presence.
Now, the songs celebrate often these blessings and others as well coming to the believers as a abundant fountain. We have fountain of blood, fountain of peace, fountain of joy, fountain of light.
We have many songs about a fountain. Some take words right from the text. Others are word pictures based on passages. Songs are about experience more than doctrine often.
@divegeester
The subject "God the Fountain of life" is more inclusive of other blessings than only forgiveness.
No doubt the imagery of a fountain or spring of benefit from God is in the Bible.
Not only is redemption pictured this way but many other blessings as well.
I think I explained this in the OP. [my bolding this time]
God's blessing of Himself is in every way like a fountain. Blessing
pours forth from His presence in man as a abundant gushing up
spring. In discussion the hymn with the first line on There is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Emanual's veins it occurred to me so many blessings of God including Christ's redemption, subjectively are like a fountain.
@divegeester
I am not "slipping" or "conflating".
I am expanding.
With your question is the innuendo that you wish me to go along with.
But I do not go along with the implication.
I am not slipping sneakily something or conflating something.
I am expanding on something.
Many blessings, not just redemption, are abundantly supplied fountain like in the bible. His very life within the born again He promises will spring up into eternal life.
And His life includes many, many benefits.
Isaiah 12:3-4 – “Therefore with joy shall you draw water out of the wells of salvation. And in that day shall you say, Praise the LORD, call upon His name, declare His doings among the people, make mention that His name is exalted."
Sometimes the benefits of God's presence is as a well and at other times like a fountain or spring.
-Removed-What does your non experience have to do with the experience of those who have benefitted from the promises of God?
Maybe the bible has never profited you because you never mixed God's word with faith. Maybe you have never applied faith to what you read and therefore received no profit.
"For indeed we have had the good news announced to us, even as they also; but the word heard did not profit them, not being mixed together with faith in those who heard." (Heb. 4:2)
@divegeester
All of the blessings of God's work and presence can be said to pour forth from Him in the human heart. Not only His forgiveness but His grace, mercy, very life, light, etc.
Any one of these benefits of God could conceivably be celebrated as being like a fountain.
And as you mentioned Brother Watchman Nee, he had no problem using the word "fountain" to speak of blessings coming from God. [my bolding]
"A similar passage is found in the Song of Solomon 4:12, which says, "A garden inclosed is my sister, my spouse;/a spring shut up, a fountain sealed." [The word spring is translated "well" in the Chinese Union Version.] A garden enclosed means that it is not a public . . . Not everyone can see it. "A well shut up." There is a difference between a well and fountain. A well is something man-made, while a fountain is something natural. Abraham always dug wells. Whenever his servants found a source, he dug a well. However, a fountain is natural and has not been worked on by man. The Lord says that we are a garden enclosed and that we are not open at any other time; the only time we are open is when we open to the Lord. We are also a well shut up. A well is for man's use. However, even though it is for man's use, it is still limited by the Lord and shut up for Him. The fountain signifies what we have received from God; it signifies the joy we have received from the Lord. The well is before man, while the fountain is before God. None of these can be shown to others purposely; they are all concealed. All of our experiences in prayer should be concealed and not made public. Even the part that is for man is concealed. In short, all the good things that we possess should be locked up for the Lord."

by Watchman Nee
The point being that some poetic language in the Bible itself uses the fountain as a symbol of God's blessings pouring out in the heart of His lovers. Some of us want to be led to deeper experience with the living God.
