god made man in his own image. what exactly does this mean? is it referring to his physical image? if so is it gods 'real' image? did he choose to take that shape then copy it for humans, or has he always been human shaped? if not then he cant really say he made man in his image as its not his 'real' image.
does making man in his own image also refer to emotions, does god share our emotions?
if god does look like us, does he also have nerves and a brain?

it cannot refer to physical image since we are male and females, black and white, tall and short, etc.

it refers to spiritual image. free will, intelligence, self-awareness.

So are we as intelligent as God?
Most animals have at least some intelligence, freewill, self-awareness. How are we more godlike than them?

in his image doesn't mean his duplicate, because again, there are more and less intelligent people out there.

we are made in god's image. better sais, we were made to become more and more like god.(the apes from which we evolved were slightly less in his image)

it doesn't mean nobody else is. perhaps intelligent ants will evolve in the future. most likely there are races of aliens in the universe, also made in god's image.

so why does corinthians say that man should not have his head covered because he is the image and glory of god BUT a woman is the glory of man.

there is a clear indication here that it is man who is more god like, does this refer to mans physicality or is it blatant sexism!!

So most animals were 'made in his image' but to differing degrees. I think you will not find many Christians agreeing with you on that one.

he wears white robes, his hair is white as wool, and he has a throne, it's like emerald. - daniel 7:9

he is sitting on his throne while wearing long robes - isaiah 6:1
he walks in the garden - genesis 3:8

so, he's got legs and a butt at least, and he needs a place to sit. let's see what else...

well, he has a throne again, but it's sapphire this time, and what looks like a man on it. - ezekiel 1:26

and his penis is on fire.- ezekiel 1:27

jacob wrestles with him and thinks he's wrestling a man- genesis 32

i guess god's penis was covered up.

Everything that YOU create is a reflection of who you are. It indicates what is important to you, your intelligence level, your desires etc.

Does anyone believe this stuff any more?? Genesis was written by primitive man as an attempt to explain Life, the Universe and Everything. Primitive man had a primitive understanding of science and evolution. You cannot take this statement as a literal explanation of creation. The sooner we accept that much of Genesis is simply an attempt by early man to explain his existence, a creation myth, if you like, the better. There is a fundamental need to explain existence, and for early man it seemed a neat formula to say that God created him in God's likeness. Problem solved.

Half of Genesis alludes to gods creating everything and there are plenty of
references to other gods. The OT is just a mishmash of polytheism and
monotheism. What I find amusing is that much later this plurality of gods is used
to support the idea of a Trinity!
