How Many More Years Will You Be Around to Post To This Forum?

THE HISTORY OF LIFE EXPECTANCY
"Life Expectancy is a term that seeks to apply information from the past to predict what might happen in the future. This time tested statistical average has grown in stature year after year and is now one of the leading health performance metrics in the world. It reflects the health of a country's people and is often used to measure the quality of healthcare they receive. Life expectancy at birth, from a global perspective, is the average number of years a newborn infant would be expected to live if health and living conditions at the time of its birth remained the same throughout its life. One of the best ways to grasp the significance of this important global metric is to understand its History.

In the Chart below you can see how dramatically some countries have improved over time by Year and Gender. Sadly you will also notice some countries have gone in the opposite direction. Use the Drop Down provided to select the variables you want to see and the dynamic Chart will do the rest. You may also highlight as many countries as you want to help you compare and keep track of them. Just click on the country name and it will turn yellow and will remain yellow until you click it again to remove it or you exit this page. NOTE: When you are finished reviewing this Chart you should review Life Expectancy By Age:" http://www.worldlifeexpectancy.com/your-life-expectancy-by-age

I don't get why people who are planning on eternal life are concerned about life expectancy.

JS, thanks for christening this thread. Answer: because an awareness of the brevity of life, described as "a fleeting vapor trail" in James, heightens focus on each day's value and on the command to "redeem the time because the days are evil".

What it should do is temper our views in how we live, I can promise you
it does not matter what those numbers are, none of us are promised
to live out today, just as none of our kids are promised, or our parents,
or anyone else. What occurs after this life will last a lot longer than the
short time we are alive here, be it nothing at all, or eternal life either in
God's Kingdom or out of it.

Look to this Day

Look to this day!
For it is life, the very life of life.
In its busy course
lie all the virtues and realities of your existence.
The bliss of growth,
The glory of action,
The splendour of achievement.

For yesterday is but a dream,
Tomorrow is only a vision,
But today, well lived,
Makes every yesterday a dream of happiness,
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.

Look well, therefore, to this day.

'Tis all a Chequer-board of Nights and Days
Where Destiny with Men for Pieces plays:
Hither and thither moves, and mates, and slays,
And one by one back in the Closet lays.

According to this, I have 9 years to make a difference in someone's life.

If that's your age bracket, within a statistical sense you do "if health and living conditions at the time of its birth remained the same..." In fact you and everyone else has today; 'one day' is the biblical unit with which we measure our life and times.

Never mind that, we are all about to sell our collective souls for health care so that we can live a few extra years or so when our health goes south. 😛

"Never mind that, we are all about to sell our collective souls for health care so that we can live a few extra years or so when our health goes south." whodey Guess who knows all about what's going on and why? Guess who knows better than to have the least anxiety over the encroachment of federal government in our private lives? Guess who can do the least, in terms of providing logistical support in enemy territory, for a family member for whom He's already done the most at reconciliation?

Does it ever occur to you that some people have way too much time on their hands. Ok, that is fine that each country has an average time span. What I do with that time is more important, to me, than the actual knowing of my time.

I've spent years working with groups like the Out Reach Project, in Iowa. And other types of groups in Michigan, where i am now. And family, very important to me.
