    ahhhh, election...

if the god we are talking about is the god of the bible, then according to the book of ephesians, it is god who elects. according to the gospel of john, it is god who chooses.

I mean think about it, people. Immortal souls are at stake here.

You simply don't have time for golf, or nice cars, or posting in a word association thread on a chess website. Or anything else.

Wives and children are, like Playstations, a terrible distraction. Saving two souls is better than creating one ...[text shortened]... what if the ungrateful little SOB turns against the church? Then your score goes down by one!
Tithing money also goes to that. Tithing money sends missionaries to other countries.

But if that's a good thing, why isn't it a sin to spend money on things like alcohol and pictures of dogs playing pool?

My church as an annual golf tournament. But the point of it is that we have to bring an unchurched friend to it to play. And after we eat lunch and hear a testimony of what Christ has done for that person. Which I have not done yet. everyother year I go to the mens retreat then this year I will do the golf tournament.

    But boy if I did
I'd build a big church where
    We both could witness*

This reminds me of people pleading with God for an answer to prayer and swearing their eternal service to him if he answers their prayer. Then if he does answer their prayer they somehow find a way to forget all the promises they made to him in oreder to get their prayers answered.
