Is there free will in the afterlife?

A simple slew of questions for those who believe in the Christian concept of an afterlife.

"Evil" is the result of humans exercising free will, right?

Humans are "evil" by their very nature, yes?

Is there free will in the afterlife?

Are humans still humans in the afterlife?
nope, all will be one with the god soup. free will and eternal happiness are not compatible.

"The good place" show finale is the best version of the afterlife, that team of writters did a way better job than the bible.

I believe that free will and eternal happiness ARE compatible... as long as one "chooses wisely".

"Choosing poorly" pretty much ensures a bad ending, for sure. But that's as it's always been. Nothing new here.

"Eternal happiness" aside, do you believe there is free will in the afterlife?

There must be because at the end of the millenium, Satan will again be loosed to convince who he can to follow him. If there is any choice, free will must be involved.

I might have been sloppy with my terminology. I'll ask it a different way: "Eternal happiness" aside, do you believe there is free will "in heaven", or in that state of being in the afterlife that many Christians refer to as "heaven"?

the only information we have is from NDE people. Most of their accounts are of a very positive adventure. Lots have said they didn't want to come back. I don't see any reaosn to not believe them.👼

Surely you mean "the Kingdom of God".

IMHO - Yes, there is free will. As I've said several times here: "If God wanted robots that worship him automatically, he could have created them." God wants those who worship him to do so because they want to, not because they're programmed to.

So does that mean you believe people "in heaven" will still have the free will to do and think "evil" things?

I see where you're going with this - and I'm not going to take the bait.

Nice try! 😏

Those who enter the Kingdom of God do so as spirit beings, As Jesus said these are born of the Spirit and are not flesh and bones. John also commented that these are born of God and cannot sin

Born of the Spirit = Born of God = Unable to sin

Paul noted that this physical body is what is corruptible, but the spiritual body which is the one God provides in the Kingdom of God is not corruptible therefore it cannot sin neither think evil thoughts. If by that you take it to mean there is no free will then there is none in that sense.

It's not "bait". It's the thread topic.

Now, this makes some sense to me. Thanks for not leaving me alone with mchill.

Yeah .. Mcchill is a setup, he pretends he wants to answer but then declines.

Remember also that Jesus said there is no male and female, I guess that removes lust, desire and romantic relationship in the Kingdom of God. There will also be no material things, or no desire for it. So those two alone removes the bulk of man's motive for sin.

Not disputing that, but can you link to the passage concerned.
