John 3:16 seems pretty clear about "belief", so that excludes atheists.

I already said that it is my opinion that Jesus accepts all who do good works and live righteously. Jesus explained this in Matt 25. I know your church view is different. Im not interested in rehashing it again.

Do they have to put their faith into Him, do they have to believe in Him?
Do they have to have God's Spirit in them?
What about the scriptures that say not by works are we saved?

Those who do good works are in fact abiding in Christ.
For you abiding in Christ means professing belief with the mouth.
My interpretation is that living according to Christ commandments is abiding in Christ.

You promote belief in the form of mouth worship
I promote belief in the form of following and keeping commandments as Jesus explained many times. Here is one of many

If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. (John 15:10 KJV)
