If jesus and the new testament is really a test from god to see if we are loyal to god or if we just run to anyone claiming to be god then obviously any new testament scripture could not be used in the argument.
The old testament said their will come others who claim to be god (I wish I knew some old testament verses by heart to show my point)...so if my theory were true, and I believe it is, then any and all new testament scripture would be unusable in this argument.
It would be biased towards the idea of jesus is god.
Now, any new testament scripture that says jesus was not god would be interesting to see 🤔
Remember I am referring to those who say jesus is god.
I have met many religious people and some actually said jesus is god.
I do not know as much as all of you about religion so take what I say with a grain of salt.
I am also not trying to offend anyone. 😉
Jesus himself says he is the son of man right?
The language can be confusing but isn’t son of man a common human like me and you?

There is a difference between God verses gods, or god. One is God while the others could be one of many or something not the God just to be clear. You may not worry about that but given the topic you may want to be aware.
@pachman saidI believe Jesus is God so that you can speak to your concerns with me. I'll do my best to answer you. I believe in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, these three persons are one being, God.

You read all of the Bible twice in one year, did you see the connections between the Old Testament and the New pointing towards Christ? Both Old and New claim beliefs in one God, the issue many have is that God is a little more complex than we are, or anything, or anyone else we know, imagine that!
When the NT was written, they were proclaiming Christ and telling people to search the scriptures, and the scriptures were all of the Old Testament writings. The New Testament was about to be written if you can find conflict in the Old and New its all fair game, if you can see conflicts in New and New its fair game, or Old and Old its entirely fair game.
Jesus became a man, the Son of man, and He lived as one of us, entirely as one of us from beginning to end. He was tempted like us in all ways yet without sin and won our salvation by giving Himself up for our sins. He did that as the Son of man, but He was also the Word of God made flesh. The language I admit can be confusing if you are not looking at the whole of scripture. Taking just one verse here or there can lead to some odd interpretations.
Don't worry about offending me with any question.
@pachman saidHi. No Jesus is not a test other then for those who doubt who is is or even existed. Jesus never claimed at all, not once that he is God. He says God or Jehovah is his father and the one who created him.
So about 10 years ago I read the bible a couple times and the Koran a couple times just for an information standpoint and correctly if I am wrong but in the old testament it says that their is only one god and their will be those who come later saying they are god.
And wouldn’t ya know it...here comes the new testament with the test!
I am referring to those who actually s ...[text shortened]... ot to those who say jesus was a teacher.
So maybe jesus is a test?
To see if people fall for it?
If he had even once claimed to be God or Jehovah, not many alive then would have had anything to do with him. They knew the foretold messiah was coming, not God.
@pachman saidJohn 8:54 Jesus replied, “If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me. 55 Though you do not know him, I know him. If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and obey his word. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad.”

57 “You are not yet fifty years old,” they said to him, “and you have seen Abraham!”
58 “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” 59 At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.
Clearly Jesus is not an average Joe Blow person. Again, they took up stones to kill him for blasphemy. What does that tell you?
As for Old Testament scriptures referring to Jesus as God.
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
It's all there kiddo.
And yes, Jesus is the son of man and a prophet, but clearly he is more.
Again, he was put to the cross for blasphemy. He could easily have cleared up the matter by simply claiming to be like your average prophet.
It's all right there.
Mark 14:60 Then the high priest stood up before them and asked Jesus, “Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?” 61 But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer.
Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?”
62 “I am,” said Jesus. “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
63 The high priest tore his clothes. “Why do we need any more witnesses?” he asked. 64 “You have heard the blasphemy. What do you think?”
They all condemned him as worthy of death. 65 Then some began to spit at him; they blindfolded him, struck him with their fists, and said, “Prophesy!” And the guards took him and beat him.
@kellyjay saidI've recently started capitalising all Gods out of respect (to the believers concerned). I don't think you can claim exclusivity to the capital G, just because you believe your own God is the only genuine God. Hindus believe similarly about their Gods etc.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidSeeing as different people worship different Gods, and I have no reason to believe that any of the revealed Gods [that various believers describe] actually exist as described, and seeing as these Gods simply stand as a supernatural figure at the epicentre of an ideology, I think referring to a person's "God figure" or people's "God figures" is the way to go.

The nature of the God figure that, say, Suzianne and divegeester believe in is, to my way of thinking, fundamentally different from the God figure that, say, sonship and KellyJay believe in. There are two different God figures right there. Hindus, Muslims and Jews and others also have their own different God figures.
