You need to understand that Matthew is Levi a disciple of Jesus.

Also Jeus is reported to have told the disciples things in the Old Testament scriptures that spoke of Him.
The authors of the gospels lived decades after Jesus died.

Evidence that they did not know the details of Christ's life, nil. It must be true because
FMF says its true, that's the extent of the evidence and its unworthy of serious
consideration, 'move along these are not the droids we are looking for.'

RJH, arguing with them is like playing chess with a pigeon, they are simply content to
knock over the pieces and strut about like they won

Well they wrote about Christ's life but they were not his contemporaries. They wrote their accounts decades after he died. Their writings formed part of setting up a new religion based on the belief that Christ was the "Messiah".

None of the four authors of the four gospels were Jesus' contemporaries. This is not even a controversial, surely.

thats because the pigeons realize they are not really kings, queens and soldiers, they are in fact just lumps of wood on a wooden board all moving around to some made up rules. the pigeons are showing that the only real rules are the rules of science.

'behold-gravity' pigeon knocks over queen.

Well given that with this analogy you folks are trying to play draughts (and struggling to make crowns
not so easy with chess pieces
before even starting the (wrong) game), there isn't much else to do other than knock over the pieces and laugh at you :]

Do you believe that the authors of the four gospels met Jesus in person?

Look them up on wikipedia and see what they say. I know you are not going to believe me or a Christian source.

According to wiki:

Matthew probably originated in a Jewish-Christian community in Roman Syria towards the end of the first century A.D. The anonymous author drew three main sources including the Gospel of Mark.

[According] to the majority view the author [of the Gospel of Mark] is unknown, the author's use of varied sources telling against the traditional account. The gospel was written in Greek shortly after the destruction of the Second Temple in AD 70, possibly in Syria.

According to most scholars Luke was written somewhere between 75 AD and 100 AD.

John was finally completed somewhere around 90-100 AD
