isn't it funny how someone needs to read the bible to understand the bible? and how one needs someone else to explain it?

Yes, so it seems like it requires people to pass down through the generations the explanation of the bible. Doesn't that leave a LOT of room for error?

EDIT: I also find that people who try to explain it do not explain it very well to make sense. Do we need people to explain how to interpret people who try to explain the bible?

why does someone needs to explain it in the first place? there are passages in the bible that are open to interpretation. why is someone elses interpretation better than mine?

why dont you try reading it for yourselves and make an evaluation with your own minds, tell you what, ill test you out with some basic Biblical questions shall I, lets see how much you understand with regard to the ancient text. Ok, first question, an easy one,

when did the 400 year exile of the Jews begin and end.

Considering the small amount of the bible that I have read does not make sense at all to me, how would studying it to any depth make any more sense?

My argument was against RJHinds' comment about having someone else explain it. All I will be getting is someone else's interpretation of it.

Is that an admittance, it sure sounds like one. Sooo if you went to a lawyer with a legal case and he offered you his opinion you would dismiss it out of hand merely because it was an interpretation? Nooo, but that is the very basis with which you object to RJHinds statement. Bible is a huge volume, it takes years to study its intricacies, just like a lawyer who may spend years to become well versed in the law. Citing that its an interpretation is a very weak argument indeed.

The bible doesn't make sense to me due to illogicalities. Like the talking snake, the universe being created in 7 days etc.

If I find that a lawyer is using such logic to argue my case, I will get another lawyer.

weak, very weak. It doesn't make sense because you do not understand it, because you have not studied it, is it not the case.

There is no indication that a day is a literal twenty four hour period, if that were the case, when you speak in terms of, 'in your fathers day', you are speaking of an unspecified duration of time, not a literal twenty four hour period. Same with scripture. Again there is no indication that it was actually a literal talking snake, the scriptures make it clear that the 'original serpent', was a rebellious angelic being, termed Satan. Snakes dont talk, they have no vocal chords with which to form sounds.
