I would probably go for Islam.
Given the arbitrariness of religions at least in regards to truthfulness, I'd go with Mormonism. They always seem to be the nicest people, and when you die you get to be with your family. On second thought, I hadn't actually counted on being married forever . Maybe polygamy is still OK in the afterlife? And then there's that silly door-to-door crap. Maybe scientology instead.

interesting question...i started thinking about it but i quickly started drowning in all the arbitrariness. i drew a catchy little god on my lunch napkin yesterday at dj2's request -- maybe she would get my praise.
If I couldn't be an atheist, I would really like to be a scientologist. I would enjoy believing and insisting that Ron Hubbard only appeared to be a science fiction writer, but was in fact a deity from outer space. And while it appeared that God died from the effects of chronic alchoholism some years ago, in a real sense he continues to live on and guide us in our daily lives.

I still don't know what to believe... but I do believe in something.

lol. Gotta love L. Ron, he knew what it would take to start a new "religion" in the post-industrial era. Healthy doses of brain-washing mixed in with insipid sci-fi epistemology and Nazi-like iron handed facist organizational control. I think you'd still have to do the door-to-door thing, though.
