I agree with Kelly, that the majority of people who are corrupt when put in a position of power were already corrupt before getting into power, it was just less obvious due to their lack of influence.
A good example is a very corrupt president we had in Zambia who had forged his school certificates long before becoming president.
If power was truly to blame then we should give up on the idea of honest governance as it becomes an impossibility.
I think there are quite a lot of reasonably honest leaders in the world.
People often do change when put in a position of power but sometimes that is a result of the different point of view and a greater understanding of what is possible and what is not.
