You did not answer the question. How does someone believe? Explain it like im a 3 yr old? What is it about. How do you do it?

You believe that Jesus died for your sins on the cross and that you receive forgiveness through His death on the cross. You trust Him that He will work in you to enable you to do His will and that he will change you to be more and more like Him. (Of course obedience goes hand in hand with faith, but trusting God enables us to be obedient)

One needs to compare one's actions and compare them to what is right according to the gospel found in the Bible. One can't simply trust one's own desires since our bodies are corrupt.

That's an example of the type of mindless rhetoric that is often repeated.
Let's go back to the example I cited earlier:
There are two men. They both claim to believe in fidelity in marriage. One is true to his wife. The other is not. Which one truly believes in fidelity in marriage?
Would not the man who remains true to his wife, be doing it of his own strength?

It depends on who defines 'fidelity in marriage'. Jesus said if you look at a woman with lust you have committed adultery. So by that standard we are all adulterers. Or if you deny it a liar. That's why we need God's forgiveness and a change of heart.

More mindless rhetoric.
What's your point? That no man can remain faithful to his wife regardless of whether or not he is a Christian?

Point is all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, we all need forgiveness and we all need a change of heart. Through Christ alone we can have victory over not only the condemnation but also the power of sin. If every man is honest he will agree that he has sinned in some way or the other and therefore needs forgiveness and needs a redeemer. And that's why Jesus died, to set us free.
