People sell their souls all the time for fame, fortune, and lust and they don't have to go to the devil to do it, they throw everything they are and have to make it happen, life, health, friends, family. Whatever it takes morals become mutable to justify themselves, they will make anything fit if it gives them want in the end. People are turned into objects to be used, they ...[text shortened]... nsequences, but if payday is not feared they do what they want as long as they want, while they can.
The first famous person that I ever saw interviewed (probably still on youtube) that admitting selling his soul was Bob Dylan.

I accept that this does leave the question of whether his soul was his to sell in the first place, but clearly the intent was there.

Ezekiel 18:4 KJV

"Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die."

Good reference. I think the expression about .. selling ones soul.. , is not about actually selling, but in doing wrong things or committing sin for some kind of earthly reward, like money or power etc. So yes, people can "sell their soul" in that sense, ie they do wrong things so that they can benefit financially.

@divegeester

I hope that you didn't have to crease your frock too badly when you sat down to type that.

@divegeester

I made no suggestion at all about you bring a man/male/masculine (or your pronouns).

I wouldn't dare in this absurd country that we live in under Keir Stalin where you can get prosecuted for orwellian non crime and saying hurty words to a police horse.

can I sleep with someone's spouse and not get caught, or is the price to heavy so I will not. This counting the cost shows they are well aware that actions have consequences, but if payday is not feared they do what they want as long as they want, while they can.

I personally think it's all about love. I personally would not sleep with someone's else's wife because of all the pain and sorrow it would cause many others including God; the husband, wife, kids, their whole family; and, my own wife and family. "Loving others as yourself" pretty much says it all.
