@fmf saidThis question is more drama-inducing pap.
A propos the Bible, stuff you [perhaps] don't like, and the matter of abortion, Suzianne, when do you think life begins?
The more important and interesting question is: Do you think that, regardless when life begins, women should retain an unrestrained, legal sovereignty over their own physical bodies?
It's not about when "life begins". It's about not allowing outside control over one's own person.
@suzianne saidSince it is true that life begins at conception, for an individual or society to allow the wholesale slaughter of innocent babies is as horrific as it gets.
It's not about when "life begins". It's about not allowing outside control over one's own person.
It's not a legal question about an individual's rights, but a question of the morality of making murder legal.
Spiritually speaking abortion is the modern day equivalent of the worship of Moloch.

@josephw saidThe version I used was the NIV, one of the most widely used versions. If God deliberately causes a woman to "miscarry", that is a deliberate death of the unborn.
I looked up the verse in five different translations. The NIV says "miscarry",
The direct Hebrew words and their meanings from that portion of verse 27 are as follows:
mayim > the water
'ārar > that causeth the curse
[and become]
mar > bitter
ṣāḇâ > and shall swell
beṭen > her belly
nāp̄al > and shall rot
Also, what about God cursing a woman's womb in Deuteronomy, resulting in the death of that life? You can nitpick all you want, God clearly has no qualms harming the unborn, whether through a curse or other means.
So, if you were to read the entire chapter you would learn that it actually has nothing to do with abortion at all
God's punishment for adultery is by killing a woman's unborn child. The life of an unborn clearly isn't as "precious" to God as Christian's claim.
@suzianne saidI am not interested in this political question on this Spirituality Forum. I don't care if you think your question is "more important".
The more important and interesting question is: Do you think that, regardless when life begins, women should retain an unrestrained, legal sovereignty over their own physical bodies?
@suzianne saidThe question "When do you think life begins?" most certainly IS about when life begins, Suzianne. A question about "not allowing outside control over one's own person" is a different question.
It's not about when "life begins". It's about not allowing outside control over one's own person.

God through the prophet Isaiah, Isaiah 13;21 (King James version):
17 “Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, who shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.
18 Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children..
Let's see Joseph scramble to the Hebrew version.
