Would Adam and Eve have sinned without being prompted to by Satan?
Why did God allow Satan to tempt them?
What are your thoughts?

to give them a choice, that is why he showed them good and evil (Satan).

It was a setup. God intended for Adam and Eve to fail. He had to pretend to be angry, of course, but he knew how things would turn out from the very beginning.

if God had never shown them evil, then there would be no free will. they would always be good because they would not know of evil and would have no choice; he knew the outcome, but he let them choose.

Maybe Eve was confused and got the wrong tree, and it was a big mistake rather than the sin of disobedience...

I don't think that Eve got the wrong tree. I think her choice was intentional. Do we have to known evil to have free will? I find it hard as a Christian to undersand why God created the tree of knowledge of good and evil, why he let Satan into the Garden of Eden, and why he cursed Adam and Eve when they failed. As a parent I would not leave my child in a room alone with a child molester.

Wow, you talk like you think all that really happened. If all that really happened, when Cain killed Able, later Cain had to marry. Where did he get a wife?

I think he just jerked into a mudpuddle and while in the act, lighting struck right between him and the puddle .. and an ape was walking by at the time ... thus, the evolution of man began.

I have not made up my mind if some of the book of Genesis is a morality tale or if it actually took place. I started this thread to try to gain insight into things I don't understand. If I don't understand something I study it. I do not mock it.

Asking about Cain's wife is a good question where did she come from?

If you believe it to be a myth, why do you think it was written?

It is an explanation for our existence. It was written by reverent Jews, but I don't think the story reflect well on God. Why would they write such a story?
