Astonishing images of galaxies and cosmic structures dating back 13,200,000,000 years; which is how long light has taken to reach earth, travelling at 186,000 miles/second.
So…
Either God is trying to fool us with the (alleged) 6,000 years since day one notion, or NASA and the entire global astronomical community of scientists are telling lies, exactly the same lies, about the age of the universe. Or maybe you’re wrong about this 6,000 years thing!
Any thoughts of how to rationalise this from the YECs here.

@divegeester saidPerhaps this is just more information about, as you say, the astonishing nature of a creator entity.

Perhaps knowledge of these galaxies and cosmic structures and the light zipping around is the closest we can come to gaining an accurate awareness of such an entity's nature, for the time being anyway.
To me, that is more likely to be heading towards knowledge of reality than the outpourings of anthropomorphized narratives dreamt up by navel-gazing religionists.
Congratulations to science for being there at the cutting edge of human curiosity and open-minded enquiry.

@divegeester saidSurely God is impressed with how high you can count.

@fmf saidOr perhaps it's just closed-minded bigotry that has a shallow and superficial understanding of the power of God to create everything in the universe as we see it in only seven literal days.

@fmf saidConsidering God exists eternally, outside of time where we exist, I'm quite certain he is unperturbed by our dogmatism.
Yes. Perhaps.
But knowing God has unlimited power I hold steadfast to his word where I'm safe from speculating about things beyond my comprehension. With or without telescopes.
13 billion years is time out of mind. Why not 13 trillion? Why not 7 days?
I have no doubt God can do it any which way he pleases.

@josephw saidIf you want to engage in dogmatism, it makes no difference to me.

There is nothing about the recent discoveries of the James Webb Space Telescope that contradict the teachings of the bible in any way. I applaud the scientific community for such breakthroughs and discoveries and find them fascinating. I'm a bit puzzled why you think science and scripture are opposites. In fact, recent breakthroughs in the field of quantum physics would seem to support what Jesus taught his disciples about the kingdom of heaven.

@divegeester saidWell as creation describes how it came about when the stars were created if you read the text, God spoke they were there and the was light from the stars seen at the same time. So rate of light speed and distance from the earth cannot tell us how old the universe is. God telling how He did it and us leaping to conclusions don’t mean God lied, only we think we know more than we do.

@kellyjay saidYou haven’t been asked to regurgitate your dogma Kellyjay, you have been ask how you rationalise what science proves with what you believe?

@josephw saidBut he no doubt decided to use the physical laws (that he created) in the physical universe (that he created) to effect physical change which also has the added effect of causing one of his creations (man) to have the free will (which he created) to believe that it was all done without a God.

@divegeester saidAs I pointed out that things being used to determine age don’t address age. If you see a car moving 70MPH doesn’t mean it was 70 miles away an hour ago. You assume much!
