The sum of 8 🙂
The crowd gathered; it was a day of reckoning; everyone was there to hear the arguments, and the group of 6+2 rose first; they were delighted as they gave their presentation on how their sum equaled 8. The 2+6 crowd cheered for much of what they said until they claimed that the first number in their sum was the highest even number, which infuriated them. It also caused a mighty roar from the 8+0 crowd; we have the highest first number, and the retort from the 6+2 crowd was your second number is nothing! No, the 8+0 screamed, 0 is something, nothing is nothing.
All of the other sum groups were not happy; the 7+1 crowd declared even numbers are not worth more than the odds. From that, the 4+4 crowd went nuts; their anger looked like it could go physical; when someone said you don't even know what number in your summing goes first, you are most confused.
The arguing went back and forth; in the back of the crowd, the 13+42=8 crowd laughed along with the 54+9=8 crowd; claiming because of the arguments those speaking were having, no one could indeed know the best right answer to the sum of 8 listening to them.
The truth matters; when we cannot acknowledge truth from others when they speak it, we miss out as they get it right. And in our arguing over the truth, factual errors look no different from the truth.

When you say "truth", you are referring to your speculations and aspirations rooted in supernatural conjecture. You cannot tell me something "factual" about your own supposed immortality, aside from the "fact" that you believe in it. Mathematics - 4+4, 6+2, 5+3 - is not supernatural.

You seem to confuse those two things quite a bit, I've repeatedly told you my opinion is only an opinion, and truth doesn't change. If I tell you I believe something to be true, and it is, it is still an opinion. If you find fault and correct me, I'm the better for it; if all you do is tell me, it's an opinion, yawn.

Well, I liked it. I won't comment on the ongoing argument, but I acknowledge and appreciate the lateral thinking involved with the example.

The particular brand of "truth" you are referring to is something about which you can only speculate and share your opinions and/or assertions about your faith.

Yawn all you want, KellyJay. If you don't feel "better for" for having discussed your opinions with me, then talk to someone else. Yawn indeed.

You telling me something I believe is something I believe does not move the bar one way or another. Addressing the topic instead of telling me I believe something would.

Your opinion that, for example, your faith in Jesus gives you immortality and your belief that this is a "truth" cannot be analogized with reference to mathematical truth and "the sum of 8".

There is only truth and that which isn’t there are no brands of truth.

How would you know?

When it comes to God/Gods, there are as many "brands of truth" as there are religions. The brand of "truth" you are referring to is something about which you can only speculate. And all you do is share your opinions and/or assertions about your faith.
