To Swallow or Not To Swallow

Sure, there'll be seasonal earthquakes, new volcanoes, violent tornadoes, extensive floods and regional droughts in the next five months just as there have been
in all previous years. Reasonable 2012 prediction is that scammers will make a lot of money off gullible, astute people who swallow the Nostradamus Lie. >sfat

Many people talk about such predictions and some even claim to give some credit to it, but very few people actually put any money down. Partly because the end of the world is not something you can buy your way out of unless the prediction is made by someone offering an expensive seat in heaven as an alternative (I don't think Nostradamus or the Mayans do that.).

Do you think more people will fall for this than fell for the Harold Camping scam?

Your grasp on reality firmer than that. Think it through, using your frontal lobes. No squinting or washboard forehead trying to let a thought through.

"...scammers will make a lot of money off gullible, astute people..."

Gullible: Easily persuaded to believe something; credulous.

Astute: Having or showing an ability to accurately assess situations or people and turn this to one's advantage: "an astute businessman".

Hmmm. Maybe there aren't enough gullible, astute people in these parts.
