@lemondrop saidJesus is King, I don't think socialism or capitalism are of any concern to Him.
I think the Christian right would have him tarred and feathered
@lemondrop saidYou mean taking His words and trying to make them fit what we want them to say instead of what He wants?
I was referring to his teachings
they are certainly of concern to Christians
@kellyjay saidHis words and the Christian right......I don't think there is much agreement when in fact there should be 100 per cent agreement, after all, is that not the word of God?
You mean taking His words and trying to make them fit what we want them to say instead of what He wants?
@lemondrop saidNo, Jesus was not teaching Socialism. Jesus did not care about the living dead just as he will not care about them after they are dead.
I think the Christian right would have him tarred and feathered
@lemondrop saidSo not really us taking His Words, just those you accuse of taking His Word, and turning them into what they want.
His words and the Christian right......I don't think there is much agreement when in fact there should be 100 per cent agreement, after all, is that not the word of God?

@lemondrop saidThe "Christian right" have little regard for the words spoken by Jesus while He walked the Earth as evidenced by their attitudes toward both the poor and the wealthy. They clearly have "wealth" as their master.

Matthew 6
19“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20“But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; 21for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
22“The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. 23“But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
24“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.
Matthew 13
. 22“And the one on whom seed was sown among the thorns, this is the man who hears the word, and the worry of the world and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
Luke 18
18A ruler questioned Him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 19And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone. 20“You know the commandments, ‘DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, DO NOT MURDER, DO NOT STEAL, DO NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS, HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER.’” 21And he said, “All these things I have kept from my youth.” 22When Jesus heard this, He said to him, “One thing you still lack; sell all that you possess and distribute it to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” 23But when he had heard these things, he became very sad, for he was extremely rich. 24And Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for those who are wealthy to enter the kingdom of God! 25“For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
@lemondrop saidIt is the truth. Most people will be rejected by Jesus. This means he does not care about them.
weird
Some will even call out to Jesus and call him Lord, but Jesus will tell them no you are rejected.
In his ministry on earth he called these people the dead even though they were still alive.
@lemondrop saidI posted a thread not too long ago regarding the teachings of Christ, Marx, and Nietzsche. I cited that I thought Christ would have been appalled at the Catholic theocracy in Europe as they hunted down Jews to kill them and persecute them as would Marx have been appalled at governments like the former USSR and Nietzsche would have been appalled at men like Hitler who claimed he represented them.
I think the Christian right would have him tarred and feathered
At the end of the day, their writings and what they stood for are unfortunately viewed according to how the state chooses to represent them, because most are more familiar with those state systems and ideologies than those from those men whose ideas supposedly gave birth to the states in question.
That aside, men still cannot agree with who men like Jesus really were when simply studying the scriptures. And it was no different in the times of Jesus when Jesus gathered all his apostles round and asked the 12 who he was. Only Peter got it right, he was the one and only Son of God as Jesus told him only the Father had revealed this to him, then he charged all of them not to tell anyone least the religious leaders would try to take him to the cross before his time.
