Originally posted by scottishinnzIMHO, those who knew and covered it up and kept shifting the perps around and buying silence are more guilty. No job, no organization, no group of people is without its scummy members. You really can't accurately predict ahead of time what someone will do if they've never done it before, although you can have systems in place to try to prevent anyone from engaging in certain acts. But what happened "next" that multiplied the victims exponentially -- that's far more heinous to me and that's what ends the moral authority, and the ability to proclaim that certain people are unworthy of receiving Eucharist, and that being a politician who doesn't fight against abortion can lead you to being excommunicated, etc. ad nauseum...
Isn't the entire organisation as guilty as the perpetrator in the eyes of God because they covered it up?
