If there is a creator being or entity, and the universe is its manifestation and nature, then scientists are getting far more done than speculating religious ideologues ever have to discover the actual nature of that creator. In the sbsence of credible revelations or communication by God or Gods, scientists are finding out for us what the nature of creation is ~ if, indeed, "creation" is an appropriate word for the universe.
@lemondrop
Apparently it's far more effective and convenient to pick a single God and exaggerate him to enormous proportions, while erasing all other competition from history, which is exactly what happened. Except that when Christians burned down that ancient library containing all of human and celestial knowledge, they failed to destroy everything. A tiny bit remained and it tells of many 'Gods' which were not only physical beings, but humanoid enough to have sex with humans quite often. And every time one of these Gods landed in their metal 'bird', the primitive, frightened humans would see it as 'God descending from heavens', while his soldiers were seen as angels. Naturally, the Christians cherry-picked some of the old stories while ignoring all others that didn't fit their agenda.
In conclusion, anyone that's searching for the real truth might want to start reading and analyzing records that are way older than the puny Bible. But then again, most people simply hate truth that's inconvenient.
Science gave us the electronic devices that make up this forum.
Science has done far more to improve the lives of people than religion could ever dream of.
It is too superficial to think just because we are given new gadgetry a net moral advancement has been made to mankind. It depends on how these new technology is used.
Lies now can spread around the globe reaching millions more people with greater speed. Child pornography can propagated corrupting thousands more minds. Greater efficiency is swindling, stealing identities, idol worship, marketing evil, teaching bomb making, radicalizing extremists, inventing conspiracies, doctoring up deceiving photographs, anonymously acting a total fool without impunity, profiting from wickedness of all kinds . . . these also come along with new gadgetry.
You cannot be so brain washed to think only benevolence is derived from new technology science provides. How it is used as a big part of the side effects. Is the net increase of pure wickedness always decreased because science delivers new gadgets?
@sonship saidYour distress and disapproval of the way the world is, does not constitute even evidence, let alone proof, that your assertions regarding supernatural beings and phenomena ~ seen, as they are through the prisms of Judaism and Christianity ~ are true. Meanwhile, "science" is constantly finding out more about the universe.

Considering you honestly believe that billions of non Christians will be burnt alive for eternity, is watching videos really the best spend of your time?
You are one person who may be saved because you spend time reading what I write faithfully what God's word has warned us of. If you're spared eternal punishment isn't it profitable that I a Christian spent some time here to inform you?
Though this is not the thread, since you brought up "burnt alive" tell me if the rich man in Luke 16:19-31 was dead or alive.
@sonship saiddivegeester thinks a lot of what you say is erroneous nonsense and yet, regardless of that, you think he perhaps ought to be grateful to you for being "saved" because he has read what you write?

@sonship saidZoroastrianism is a particularly interesting religion, due in part to its vast age and being a precursor to many modern religions, with its basic concept of light and dark, good and evil.
@Ghost-of-a-DukeThe Vedas tell us the universe is about 155.52 trillion years old. In Srimada Bhagwata 5.20.38, the diameter of the universe is quoted as 500,000,000 yojanas (1 yojanas is equal to approx 9 miles, so its 4.5 trillion miles).
Alright. If you know of a good English translation let me go read it please.
By the way I spent considerable ...[text shortened]...
I left half watched documentaries on Bahai, and Zoraosterism which I hope to return to this week.
In regards to the Srimada Bhagwata, here is the link:

@sonship saidNo, I can not provide another book exactly the same as the Bible. Can you provide a book exactly the same as the Koran or exactly the same as War and Peace?

@ghost-of-a-duke saidYou miss my point. Of course every book has some unique characteristics.

The accumulative effect of Genesis revealing so many critical things about man on earth in as few words as it does, I think is unparalleled.
Sure, Huckleberry Finn ALONE talks about a white kid and a black slave on a raft on the Mississippi.
As for the Quran, it was the product of one person - a supposed collection of his sayings. These was produced from about 30 years or so of his life. He HIMSELF thought the messages were from demons at first. Then a couple of women in his life encouraged him to keep going.
The Bible is a library of books written by 40 different authors, in three languages, over the course of 1,500 years.
There is no comparison whatsoever between the lustful Mohammed and his stolen and under age wives, adjusting revelations from Allah to accommodate his lust and the life of Jesus, the central figure of the Bible.
Sure, they are both books the Bible and the Quran. No one is saying the Bible is the only book on earth.
In terms of longevity in composition, you would be right to compare the Vedas with the Bible. I don't think any other ancient writing compares in this regard.
Of course you have millions of gods in Hinduism compared to one true God in the Bible. I think some of them themselves have to be improved through reincarnation. But I would have to double check that. Jainism's god's are error prone sometimes as much as human beings. Jainism was surrounded by and influenced by Hinduism.
I am still looking for someone to establish a Creator so completely distinct from the entire material universe in eastern religion. The Nirvanic like a grand oversoul is not distinct as it is the all-ness and oneness of everything.
Genesis 1:1 has God outside of and transcending time and space though He can penetrate into it to act. The Bible's teaching is not pantheism or panentheism.
And the Quran is really just the attempt to establish an Arab Moses, law giver type prophet. It nods towards the Bible much as if its is filling in what it wants to to modify what the Jewish scriptures said. In other words it changes things though alluding to them, in order to propagate some lies.
@sonship saidWhoa, Jack. Relax. What's with the histrionics?
