That was not an actual event. It was a parable. First not all enjoying this devine favor could not fit into his lap and one drip of water could not give relief to his thirst.
The rich man represented the Pharisees. See verse 14 at Luke 16: 19-31.
Lazarus represented the Jews who were despised by the Pharisees.
