I never said that was silly at all. What I said was this statement:
"If you believe in God, then believe that the words he inspired men to write are his words." is silly because the issue is whether the words in the book you have today and call the Bible were in fact inspired by God and if they were, whether errors in copying / translation etc may have crept in, and whether or no such inspiration would have taken the form of direct dictation or simply general inspiration.

I guess I'm just the proverbial "fool" for Christ.
It sounds like you think that belief in Christ actually gives you the lee way to act the fool.

John 10:4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
10:5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

I hear His voice in the Bible and also in the Quran.
