As men's prayers are a disease of the will, so are their creeds a disease of the intellect. Ralph Waldo Emerson

Did you check out my "interesting quotes" page?
I personally think its going over the top to say that "men's prayers are a disease of the will". It may be true on some level but I wouldn't go there. For it could be argued that some people think prayer relieves disease.

There are no peer reviewed studies that show prayer leads to better health, and one peer reviewed study that showed that surgical patients who were told they were being prayed for prior to their surgery, actually did worse!

Nevertheless... prayer is not like bashing on peoples doors. Its quiet and private. (I dont know about public prayer 😛 ), but prayer by oneself is beyond criticism, imo.
And you mean measured health, measured health. Not actual spiritual health.

my great theory on the suppression of conscience resulting in atrocities, its my greatest work and as yet remains unpublished. i need to wait for other minds to catch up, even in its rudimentary stages its beyond but a handful of people.

Dear Robber Karaoke, the title of your theory does not suggest anything original. It does suggest, you are full of yourself. (By the way, religion helps people suppress consciences.)

My greatest theory is that Jesus was a socialist. But that's hardly original. MANY Christians have had the same theory.

What are you talking about?, who else has come up with this theory?, no one that i have ever read. Atrocities are never attributed to the suppression of conscience in orthodox circles, but to other factors. That religion suppresses conscience is also moot, for what about those persons who through the exercise of their conscience refuse military service? What you have is a purely secular agency suppressing the conscience of the religious.
