@fmf saidYou're right of course, it could be another two thousand years, but are you saying you're not inferring, based on why you say, "Christians have been saying words to the effect of The End Is Nigh for 2,000 years", that you're not scoffing, especially since you don't believe a word of it?
Maybe it's going to be another 2,000 years. Pointing out that Christians have been saying words to the effect of The End Is Nigh for 2,000 years is hardly "scoffing"
But that's ok because you're not the only one that doesn't believe it. Obviously the default position of those that don't believe is scoffing. Everyone does it. Even I scoff at the things people believe that I think are without merit or evidence.
@josephw saidYes. I am not scoffing. Nor am I inferring that I am not scoffing.

@josephw saidFar from it. - We are in dark times of course (with all the conflicts going on around the world) but longer term the future looks bright for our species. (Once we are out there in the universe colonising other inhabitable worlds with our developing technology and cyborg brains).
Because it is.
@moonbus saidBut it could be much different with much less of us?
We do not possess the technology to end the world. The world will be here long after we are extinct.
If man possessed this tech then how many times do you think it would have been used by now, the world??
So have we really came very far as man, our nature, and ability to use things for growth and help for all or through a series over a much shorter time period will we destroy all we know and love?
