It appears that the virgin mary has chosen to appear in South America on a pick up truck.

So what are the implications of this? Is Mary, in fact, a redneck?

    Speculations?

Well obviously we should consider becoming Catholic - except that I think the Roman Catholic Church is also quite skeptical about many such sightings.

If they are made up,then by whom?
That is not the only other possibility. It could be a simple error magnified by desire.
I think I have seen a photo of Jesus on a piece of toast. Was the image there - most definitely. No lying required. Was it really a picture of Jesus? Well thats another matter, but if I think it is and it isn't am I necessarily 'making it up'?

as to becoming a Catholic on such evidence,Lol!
My own visions of seeing e.t.'s were more compelling than any other 'sighting' from someone else.

This is yet another phenomenom to '(re-)kindle'my ego.
    Great!
Why mention you saw Jesus on a peice a of toast? Is this issue not already a convoluted enough thread? (without someone like you saying 'its another matter'?)

Compelling maybe, but true - I doubt it. You said "If its true so what?" Or were you asking "If it is true that they thought they saw Mary then what?"

My own visions of seeing e.t.'s were more compelling than any other 'sighting' from someone else.
And maybe you should take a lesson from that. If others see Mary and you see ET then you should consider being skeptical of both.

I was merely pointing out that your dichotomy of "It really was Mary" or "It was made up" doesn't work.
Do you hold the same stance regarding the E.T.s you saw? ie Either they really were E.T.s or you made it all up.
I seem to remember you not liking me pointing out the error in that dichotomy in the ET thread (I pointed out that it could have been an naughty kid playing with a telepathy machine).

You might also have noticed that she has European features and likes the color blue.

Yeah! cool. I think I understood your dichotomy!
'either i saw an e.t. or i made it all up'
Well I can tell you I didn't make it up. Certainly I just want to add to our collective understanding of spiritualtiy. Even for all the draw-backs that position entailed.
So yes Whitey, I'm skeptical on both but only if comes from an outside agency.
Are you not the same way inclined given the same set of circumstances?

I am not quite sure that aliens have anything to do with spirituality.

I am not entirely sure what you mean here. Are you saying you are sure the phenomena is not a result of anything internal to your head?

Are you not the same way inclined given the same set of circumstances?
Again, I am not sure which circumstances you are referring to nor what I would be inclined towards. Can you clarify?

I will try to clarify, my post was badly worded(again)

Firstly ,in my experience, I would like to know what aliens dont have to do with spirituality, but that aside,

Yes I'm sure this phenomena is not a result of anything internal to my head.

Lastly, gosh! I guess I would mean would you not believe your own faculties if such a set of circumstances came upon you.
ie. you had outside contact with e.t.'s and could not explain it away any other way.
(i know this is no more clearer, but I just wanted to know how you would react to such an incredible set of circumstances,(more information?just ask))

If aliens - intelligent ones did exist then I realize that it would have implications for theists, but the question of whether they exist is more a question of science not spirituality.

Well that clause about "not explain it away any other way" just about rules out me not believing it doesn't it? If anything it is the same thing in different words.
I rather suspect that I would seek to explain it in other ways - as I pointed out in the aliens thread of yours.

Actually I know very little about the exact circumstances, but as I have said before, I would suspect a prank, modern science or some other entirely earth bound phenomena before suspecting aliens simply because they seem more likely to me.

Yes,and I apologized for a bad thread on the other one. Also to re-think my position.

Having re-thunk my postition I am no closer to trying to find a way forward. If I got hypnotherapy for example I'm sure you would find a way to dismiss that.
Still there is something there I would like to communicate.
Something so deeply ingrained into my being , that I'm not surprised others may see the virgin mary or whatever.

Could you tell me what you think is going on with all these 'cotactees'?
Mass hallucination?People making up stories to get attention?
John.E.Mack from Harvard has done a huge amount of research into this phenomena and concludes the same thing-If not e.t.'s then what? what the hell is happening to all these people ?(And it is a lot of people)
