"The Bible and the Book of Mormon are both witnesses of Jesus Christ. They teach that He is the Son of God, that He lived an exemplary life, that He atoned for all mankind, that He died upon the cross and rose again as the resurrected Lord. They teach that He is the Savior of the world." ~Russell M. Nelson

The Bible is complicated enough,
but the book of Mormon?

Please don't get me started........

Some Angel allegedly called Moroni appeared to some guy
and gave him a golden bible?

Which has since gone missing????

Sounds like one big scam.

Not much different from Moses and the 10 commandments.

I agree.

But then I am a cynic at heart.

I think all organized religions are a scam.

Religion today is a business. I was raised in the Roman Catholic faith.
That institution is nearly 2000 years old now. It has less to do
with faith and more to do with power and money.

It is also a failed entity. Look at all the abuse the Catholic Clergy have
been responsible for. Both sexual and financial. More worried about
themselves than their flock.

I think you cannot judge success or failure until you define what metrics you are judging against. As for abuse, I think the abuse by priest is somewhat unjustly criticized as such things go on in other institutions too, the difference is that we tend to expect more of priests, unfairly I think.
I for one was taught in a catholic school and think that there is a lot of good that some parts of the Catholic Church have done. Certainly in Zambia, I believe that it is by far the largest charitable institution.

I have read both books several times...as well as other sacred texts...as well as classics and best sellers. I don't think that I have to believe every word that is written in them in order to benefit from them. When one is sincerely seeking inspiration, enlightenment can be found even among the threads of an internet chess sight. 😛

Don't give up hope Hakima.
Like you said you could find inspiration anywhere.
Even on a chess site.

I still think my code is the best.

Be a good person to all. Do that and hopefully
you get back what you give.

Let's all help each other.

Like you said you don't need religion to do that.

Just be a good human being.

The one thing the Roman Catholic Church fails to understand is that man and woman were not made by God to be celibate. That includes priests and nuns.

Lloyd, if you have time, here are a couple of links to check out. Both have to do with ex-Mormon Steve Benson.

Yes, if Jesus had got married it would have saved the world a whole lot of problems.
