Atheists can never be righteous with God - for starters, because they don’t believe in Him and don’t have His Holy Spirit within them!

But since you think good works make one righteous, perhaps you can tell us all the good works you did in the past week and how much of that week was devoted to good works.

You just don’t understand.

One becomes saved by belief and faith in Christ, and it is this belief and faith in Christ that leads to the indwelling of God’s Holy Spirit, and “good works” are the manifestation of the Holy Spirit’s influence in changing a believer’s heart and mind to becoming more Christ like.
Did Jesus say that?

You sound very judgmental, brother. Are you familiar with the parable of the Pharisee and tax collector who went to a mountain to pray? I would suggest that you Google it.

Not quite. Being the sole caretaker for my elderly mother and donating money to Christian-based charities were two of the “good works” I mentioned. I saw no reason to spend time thinking of and listing others.

And I am becoming more Christ like based on God’s Holy Spirit, which indwelt me when I accepted Christ as my Lord and Saviour.

Ok, fellows. Thanks for the convo; heading out now. Remember to crack open the Bible tonight and get your heart in the right way to worship and honor God in your prayers!

Is this "becoming more Christ like" thing an imperceptible personal secret of yours or are we all witnessing it?

And you liken doing these two things to filthy rags?

Remember if you pass that hungry homeless guy on the street he is probably Christ ... do the right thing.

Reading the bible and not following it is mouth worship

Well, I'm not going to argue the point. You'd know better than me. I must have been mistaken.

Interesting how you've once again claimed that you're not very smart, yet your pronounced defensiveness about it indicates that you actually think otherwise. Wonder what's up with that.
