0 to 1500 "Abstract" Tournament

Tournaments

I've been inspired by the other "abstract" (not an RHP "tournament", precisely, you know what I mean) tournament held in these forums, the Plumber Memorial Dead-Thread Swiss Challenge, or something along those lines, and I'm starting up one like it. Hopefully we'll get a few numbers to play.

This is especially aimed at non-subscribers, who, like myself, cannot or don't want to get a subscription to play "real" tournaments, but want to anyway. Subscribers are welcome too, of course.

The only limitation is that you cannot be over 1500 rating.

I'll figure out the details later, when/if I get some players. I'm not sre if I'm allowed to do this, so if I'm not, I apologise and I'll shut this down immediately after I've been informed so.

I cannot imagine this being forbidden.

Subscribers welcome! All welcome under 1500 rating! This is supposed to be an open comp!

I would love to play as I tend to play the same subs over and over and over. However, I have a rating > 1500 =(

is there a chance of maybe holding a few tourny's? 1 tourny for 500-1200 and another for 1300-1600 and 1601-1900

A player with a ratign of between 500-1199 has almost no chance of beatign a 1400-1500. Your brackets seem a bit large

I'll partake in your tournament. I get sick of playing the same people each tournament.

Too much hassle and as non subs only have 6 games at a time even a tournament involving only 16 people could take a long time to play and the organisation of the games would be a nightmare.

Groups of 4 would mean that each non subscribing participant would have their 6 games filled.

What happens when some players finish their 6 games quickly, and wants to play more games whilst the other tournament entrants finish their fuist round games.

They then take on 6 games outwith the tournament. As more people finish their tournament games and the next round is decided you will be unable to start this because Players A, C, D and G have 4 games in progress so until each player has reduced their gameload to 0 you are unable to start the next round of games at the same time.

Far too complicated and the reason why tournies are for subscribers.

I am keen to play - just joined the site and finding my way. I have a real Australian Rating of 1357, so I guess starting at 1200 isn't too far off the mark. I wish you luck with numbers. Please let me know
