I don't know about that plan but I think maybe 15...c5 would have made things a little more interesting.

That was a sweet trap.

Insidious in its execution. Somewhat surprised that a player of that level would have moved his Q into such a firing zone. I am not nearly of his level but I would have retreated my Q if for no other reason than it was a little too out front that early. Then again I would have bungled something else.......LOL

It doesn't seem like a 2000 would ever do something like this against me 😕

Actually position after 9th move has been in blitz game between decent GM (as white) and Garry Kasparov (as black). White did play 10.dxc5? and Kasparov managed to win this game. According to chessbase this is the only game in which was met position after Black 9th move. So maybe the problem was in uncritical using of databases.

This just got a bit more interesting. The #1 and 3 players by rating just got banned, leaving the field rather wide open.

Joester is banned. If I would know that he will be banned so fast I would not agree to draws in our games 🙁

I was playing for wins against him, like a real man, so my bravery will get rewarded.

Taking into account that he played very safe your play for win probably would turn into your loss if he would not be banned. In both of your games against him you had worse positions, so you can consider yourself as lucky.

What's the point anyway? Already three players have been banned from the tourney and I suspect more are on the way. Any finished games by the cheats should be reset as a win for the other player.

I wasted a lot of time on games with obvious cheats; I'm considering resigning all my games in the tourney as it's become a time consuming farce.

My black position was not too bad - he had the bishop pair but no major attacking options. Did you see my move 10 in that game? It was one of the best moves I have ever played.

Your black position is obviously worse.

And I suppose the move 10... Be2!! is an 'obviously' bad move too.

By the way, while you are lurking around in the forums, was there a good reason for salin vitalik to resign against you in that game? I am quite tired and not in the mood to analyse other peoples games other then my own but, at a glance, there did not appear to be a forced loss.

I did comment final position. not your 10th move.

To be honest I also was surprised about that resigning - Black has definitely worse position, but I would continue to play.
