Originally posted by AikoI am still in the first round of two tournaments currently. 1300-1400 banded, just barely made it in. I'm nearly 1500, and will top that shortly with the games I have in queue.
Entering as a former 1400+ player even before reaching 1700?
And such an sudden increase? I am not buying it. The level must have been in there.
I've never had a rating before but I would've estimated somewhere around 1300-1400 (in RHP terms, have no idea OTB) would have been accurrate when I started.
The fact is, I've gotten better. Significantly so since I've started playing here. What am I to do? Throw my games to my lesser opponents? Why have a rating at all if I can't be proud it's gone up due to my hard work and chess study. I hope and believe that 6 months from now I'll top 1600.
Is it despicable those that toss games to get into a banded tournament at far below there level? of course, but recognize that this is not always the case. Not to mention that simply one glance at their game history makes it obvious which is which.
