SCOTUS ruled on waiving loans under the HEROES Act in Biden v. Nebraska.

    This is a different Act.
The lawyers I’d heard discounted that as a legal ‘work around’ so I went with that rather than Sonhouse logic.

I'm shocked, SHOCKED I tell you, to find out that the US government once gave free stuff to IMMIGRANTS!

    U.S. Land Policy
    Price per acre Minimum purchase
    1796 $2.00 640 acres
    1800 $2.00 320
    1804 $2.00 160
    1820 $1.25 80
    1832 $1.25 40
    1854 $0.125 40
    1862 free 160
We could discuss it, but to start from square one, those immigrants were supposed to be here, and welcomed from their European chains.
Tell us about the ones that have been coming in wearing Biden T-shirts. I don't see any chain whelps on them.

I guess this would be forbidden by you, free stuff just given out to people needing them:

    https://phys.org/news/2024-04-eyeglasses-workers-countries-boosts-income.html
My wife said she needs a diamond ring.
Everyone, it appears, has different difinitions of 'need'. I can say that destitute people need a lot of things, free stuff as you call it. I would not forbid giving them what they need.
Haven't we been over this? YOu make me dizzy, Trumhoouse.

No - we sent them out West and gave them 160 acres (Homestead Act). They had to bring their own mule, though. Mule Not Included.
You leave stuff out. That qualifies you as a liberal. People had to qualify, Spruce. Your post is quite misrepresentative when trying to compare early settlers to these people doing whatever in the hell they are doing.

The Preemption Act of 1841 allowed settlers to claim up to 160 acres of federal land for themselves and prevent its sale to others including large landowners or corporations; they paid only a low fixed price of $1.25 per acre ($3.09 per hectare). To qualify, a person had to be either 21 years old or a "head of household" (such as a parent or surviving sibling supporting a family), a citizen or an immigrant declaring to become a citizen, and a resident on that land for a minimum of 14 months. To get permanent title to the land, the person had to accomplish specific things, such as continue to reside on it or improve it for at least five years; they could not leave or abandon it for more than six months at a time.

Really? REALLY? I guess that explains why Obama and Clinton were at the Biden campaign rally getting 30 million in the process and if I am not mistaken it was to support the Biden campaign, maybe I am just biased.
Checkout Trumphouse bragging on Biden's take at the fundrraiser, which was $25M., not 30. Trumphouse fails to mention over $50M the next week for Trump at his fundraiser, probably to pay the lawyers to keep him alive for the election, thank God.

Hahaha yeah just pick a convenient lie by a partisan liar, screw reality if it don’t match your fever dream joe. 👍
You say 'convenient, liar, screw, and dream' to write your post.
Do those words apply to my saying that I base my opinion heretofore on learned lawyers who have arrived at conclusions that Biden had/has no power to do those things? Consider that they all say that Trump cannot be charged with insurrection, yet Sonhouse says he is guilty as hell of insurrection.
So you have the laweyrs on one hand, and you have Sonhouse on the other. I assume you will side with the lawyers.
Same thing here. The guy is a dictator. Lawyers say so, Sonhouse says he is not a dictator, and then goes off on Trump. Hmmmm,,,Sonhouse? or the lawyers?

Of COURSE you don't want to actually research what Spruce posted since it would make your orange jesus look bad, can't have THAT can we? Why don't you do your whataboutism and post the 15 wonderful things X45 did, that way you can counter whatever Spruce put up. Of course that won't happen since the only links you would put up would be newsmax and ONA or whatever that ultrarightwingnut site is called.
We leave that up to you. You've done it a few times. While you are doing that, I am making a 20 foot putt.

You know, you can look this stuff up, right?

    Higher Education Act of 1965
    [P.L. 89–329; Approved November 8, 1965]
    [As Amended Through P.L. 118–40, Enacted March 1, 2024]

    SEC. 432. ø20 U.S.C. 1082¿ LEGAL POWERS AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
    (a) GENERAL POWERS.—In the performance of, and with respect to, the functions, powers, and duties, vested in him by this part,
the ...[text shortened]... law follows the Constitution, and if the Admin is following the law. That's it.

    That's DEMOCRACY.
I don’t have a research boiler room like marauder does, so not about to delve into all that, I have heard enough lawyers in various venues, make it very clear that he has not the power to do things that he does. You know what I know what everybody knows. Let us just say that it is all open to interpretation, and the lawyers I have heard have interpreted in my opinion properly. Get real… The Supreme Court has ruled, and he is going around that ruling. That is enough to tilt it a little bit would you not say?
When Trump gets in there, and starts doing some of the same things, Sunhouse We have to be admitted into an asylum. I will write him while he is there, and say this is no difference, as Biden was doing the same thing.
PS: I do indeed have such a boiler room, but I am retired and not going to get into that source.

Yes I did say this. It's important that welfare benefits not create a "hole" because that takes away the incentive to work more and make more money like the good self-reliant capitalists we all are.

If I can make $100/mo but I'm going to lose $200/mo in benefits, why would I do that? Yeah *eventually* if I make $300/mo, that starts to become worth it. By my boss isn't ...[text shortened]... f you take away socialism, America dies.

Now you really have something to thing about, don't cha?
You actually lost me at the outset, the word ‘benefits’ flows off of your tongue like honey. When you interlace such a word into a concept, it puts me at at a disadvantage when I try to use it back ‘atcha.
What benefits and why? And if one earns more, he does indeed net more? Yes. What you on about. I think you try your best to explain, but clarity is hogtied by your leaning on extraneous benefits ’.

This a sobering state of affairs, as practiced by President Biden. Talk about Democracy infringement...
Please see that he does not have the power to forgive the tuition debt. The court was clear, no authority. He is brazenly defying, and brags about it. "SCOTUS won't stop me." Changed his method, yes, but the same legal principles that make it unconstitutional still apply. He is not canceling any debt.......He is TRANSFERRING billions in debt from borrowers to taxpayers.....only the congress has the power to do that.
SCOTUS explained that. He does not care about separation of powers....WHO is the dictator? Who is the threat to democracy?????
11 states have coalesced to block this. It is grossly unfair, paying for those who went to college with money from those who didn't.
This is his pattern. Think about his eviction moratorium, the vaccine mandate, the racially discriminatory farm program, all of these are clearly lawless.....but he went ahead and did it. The court rules (properly) agianst him, and he turns it all into pure politics and rails agains the high court and rallies to stack the court.

Initial offer $49.99 with a dream run up to $79, Trump valued at 8 Billion. Since then a drop to $50 and further decline to $40 as of now. If you like backing the guy who is expert at going out backwards well....
You and Trumphouse suggest that he should be perfect.

I'll never vote for a Republican again in my life. That party has abandoned reason, America, the Constitution, and everything it ever stood for. It needs to die and be replaced by a different political party with a different message and focus.
This very day Biden is telling us to pay student tuitions. Giving SCOTUS the finger. Ha, I hope they take it personal in upcoming decision making. He is definitely bringing democracy down. Govt agents just took a gas stove out of my house, and some light bulbs.
Your man is undemocratic. The diff is, he IS undemocratic, you boys only SAY Trump is. I’m sure Trumphouse will agree with me.
Oh for the record I will never vote for the democrat party in my life. They are dependents by nature. We love independence, sel reliance, liberty and freedom. If any of you suckling faeries have ever written any of those 4 words, I have never seen it. Frankly, I think those words make liberals feel somewhat naked and cold.

Tell me how many children Obama put in cages, eh. Links, photos? So you deny Trump put those thousands of kids in cages?
You must have gone SO GOOD to see something done on the border.
Boy you got me there. I will have to research it. But what about all the Dems who question election results.
