Clans

@Ghost,
Yes, my old friend I been saying that for years now. I have said better to have less clans and more competition than many clans with less competitive competition. We are certainly on the same page on that one. I know Michael enjoys the competition also, and he will play anyone if they have 2 players or 20 players doesn't matter. We need more Clan Leader who will do that too.

@Ghost,

I know but we have to let the past go at some point. We have to learn from our mistakes of the past and move on. No one is perfect in this world. You and I for example have come a long way from where we once were.

You make more sense when you've drank less coffee.

@Ghost,

I had my coffee this afternoon. 😉 I think everyone wants to see fair challenges even Clan leaders who aren't interested in going for the top 5 or 10 positions. At the end of the year, one just has bragging rights for what it is worth. Nothing in my opinion if you haven't played all the other top Clans and all clans for that matter. Your idea about amalgamating clans I been preaching for years, is a good one. There was a time I probably wouldn't have agreed with that. I now see all the positives that could happen doing so.

The etc. is the key word here.

Some clan leaders can get upset and borderline abusive in the course of a "negotiation". As there is no way to win the Net Points title without grinding out 300 games a month - the abuse is just not worth it.

Not every clan is trying to finish on top of the Net Points table. That is not why I am here - I am here to play chess.

Just becau ...[text shortened]... t has to be important to me. We all think for ourselves around here, as everyone has plainly seen. 😇
Good point agreed.

Indeed sir, and at the end of the day it is up to each clan leader who they set up challenges with.

If there were a league structure then every clan would play each other a set amount of times and the playing field would be level (in regards to games played). - If people want to keep the current set up where it is all about excessive challenges then they have to a ...[text shortened]... to not pair challenges against them, whatever the reason.

You can't have your cake and eat it.
Also true. Agreed again. 🙂

@Very-Rusty Not in the NHL. Teams do play each other home and away once each year but the rest of the games are dependent upon which division and conference you are in. Just FYI.

Coming somewhat late to this thread. My clan does not play every other clan. There are two we won’t play at all. One because of some past history on this site. The other because the clan leader is so full of himself that we can never agree on who will play who. There is no reasoning with this person because they believe they know everything and just refused any suggested changes. I don’t need that aggravation so we don’t play them. The problem with your suggestion to play everyone assumes that every clan leader can agree on the match. That’s not necessarily true, I’m sorry to say.

@Istcyr,

Sorry to hear that. I expected as adults everyone could come to an agreement on Challenges, perhaps I was wrong. Sorry you have had a hard time with two Clan Leaders.

I hate to say it but I've been thinking the same exact thing. That will be a
huge problem. I know you felt that way when we played, I wish you had told
me while our teams were playing each other. I would have accepted any
changes you made. I'm a bit more flexible than many.

The problem as you said, will be leaders agreeing on a challenge.
A leader makes one change and the other leader justs deletes the challenge.
For it to work both leaders must compromise for the greater good.

But your point has been on my mind for a while now.

Very good point.

What if they have valid reasons to avoid certain clans? - Unfair pairings etc.
there are real reasons why some leaders don't play certain clans or quite a few.
And their reasons were valid. I've been on here for 17 years I think? And there are some that are not worth the time, effort, in trying to get them to agree
to a fair challenge. I might think it is perfectly fair but they might not.

I had one leader , sorry two leaders, change what I thought was as good a challenge and fair for everyone but they changed it and I knew they would
lose and they did. If they had left it they most likely would have won.

Some times I just give in and let them have what they want. It's only fair.
But they shoot themselves in the foot by changing it all the time.

Challenges should also be close, most of mine are always close. Not all the time but most. There are some really great clans in here but the leaders will not
play a lot of challenges which is needed if you are to win.

I think my team will have a great year next year, we had some issues last year and this year. Some had trouble getting subs, some had personal issues,
And I made some mistakes as a leader last year with the challenges and this year to.

I think Metallica will run away with it as the year goes on. Fred has
an amazing team. I think my team is to but Fred does not make mistakes
and certainly not like I do. Good post Ghost.

@Michael-Martin i'll put my money on your clan to be top again

Al it really will be Metallica. Your team can make a run with all your challenges. You are right there with a little more time put in if your able.

I screwed up last year. As you know teams prepare for the following year in the current year they are playing. Last year I should have done things differently and I didn't. I also made a mistake this year as well. Metallica has stayed on us every time we get points they stay with us. I have losses coming up mixed in with my incompetency so for us to win it would take a miracle.

I think next year we will have a great year as I am making changes and preparing correctly.

If you bet on us this year you would lose your money. I know you have a team that can win it all. I know all your players very well. You are lucky to have them.

I am very grateful to the players I have. Good people, kind people, the kind I like having as a team.

Good luck this year and next.

Michael 🙂

its great to see Celtic Druids in 3rd, with only 11 members that is a great achievement and great clan game management

@Istcyr,
You don't have to inform me about the NHL. I have been watching it since the 6 teams do you remember that far back? My changes have been made some like and some not so much the speed and skill of hockey players have improve so much In the past 50 years for sure. Never Preach to a Canadian about how hockey works we Invented the game!!! 😉
